First week of almost full time-table
Let's just say that I'm rather drained by the lessons that I've had.
Some interesting, some not so. But all in all, I guess I've learned something from the lessons. Assignments are beginning to pile up... not a good sign... implies that I won't have as much time to play as before. Maple Story has been laggy anyway... not sure what the problem is. I can't possibly play when it is laggy. My character will die and I'll waste money buying safety charms to safeguard my experience points. No point in doing that.
Having fun with my newfound friends. Not very new actually... one-month-old friends. They are a nice bunch of people... fun-loving and not-so-serious, unlike most of the people in the class. Some of them are really too serious le. Learning should be a fun and enjoyable process lo.
Ok, time to settle some stuff then go sleep. Tired :/
Bye bye Pluto
Pluto has been kicked out of the Solar System. It's weird news. Ha. Anyway, I wonder if they are going to rewrite all the books that mention Pluto as being the ninth planet.
Okie, an update on the weekend. It started with dinner at Pizza Hut at Lot 1 on Friday. I've been wanting to try the Cheesy Bites Pizza and I finally found time to patronise an outlet for it. Hmmm, had it with Black Pepper Chicken topping. I didn't quite like the taste of the chicken, but the Cheesy Bites part of the pizza was not bad. A large pizza with soup, ice tea and a Hut's Platter is a little too much for two persons.
My friend had to get some collared t-shirts for his new part-time job, so we went over to Giordano to take a look. I ended up getting a pink collared t-shirt for myself for SGD13 while he got two, one dark blue and one black. Three for SGD39 mah... one for SGD23 I think. Might as well go for the offer right? :P
Went for Discipleship lesson in church on Saturday morning. Four more lessons and I would have completed the course. It's been a year since I started on the course... time does pass quickly.
It's basically Maple Story and more Maple Story for the rest of the weekend. I died like... eight times over the weekend and used up five safety charms, equivalent to SGD5 in total. The result of training in Aqua Dungeon, where the bone fishes and gobies are. But... I'm now level 85 =] Good experience and fast leveling, but stressful. Ha.
Sunday evening was spent giving tuition to my cousin at his place. My aunt cooked mashed potato with bacon and cheese and roasted a chicken. Nice dinner.
Tomorrow marks the beginning of my full time-table in school. It's going to be hectic :/ Right... a fine week ahead to all~
The worst treatment
that one can give to someone who cares is the cold shoulder or silent treatment.
For added effect, one can switch of his/her handphone so that he/she becomes uncontactable.
I need a thumbdrive
And... I've set my eyes on the Sony Micro Vault Tiny :P Dunno which colour to get though. Maybe the purple, or the green one. 1GB of memory should be more than enough.
It's so tiny! 30mm x 14.5mm x 2.7mm and it weighs just 1.5g!
Ok. I shall get it when I get my next pay on 12 September 2006 :P
Anyway, nothing much today, just a Maths lecture which was not very interesting... and tuition.
Weird dreams
I've been having weird dreams lately... mostly related to supernatural stuff ie. ghosts. I wonder what's going on. Ha
K... time to bathe and go school. A 1-hr lecture awaits me.
Final upgrade
My final Physics upgrading lesson was conducted today. *heaves a sigh of relief* All lessons will start officially next week. *sigh*
My personal opinion is that generally, the Physics upgrading modules were helpful; re-capping of facts, clearing of misconceptions, introducing nice ideas on how to teach certain topics. There will be two MCQ tests next Friday to wrap up the modules. I hope that the questions will not be as tough as some of the course content... Some of the content is really way above 'A' level standard lo... see until I blur.
Can't stand my internet connection these days. Crappy. Slow surfing and sometimes, I can't even access pages which I previously am able to. Bleah.
QCM520, QED520 and GESL dinner
Well, today is quite a busy day for me, with two lessons in school and a dinner gathering.
Ah, had my Maths test this morning. Tough. I couldn't remember some facts (due to last minute studying) and there were some questions which I totally had no idea how to go about doing. As usual, I was careless, for the last question, which was actually a simple question. Poor time management results in less-than-desired results.
There's this class rule that anyone who is the late and the last to reach the Maths class will have to sing a song to the whole class. Well, I've been late, but I don't remember being the last person to reach. My tutor hasn't been enforcing this rule and he mentioned in the last lesson that he's going to do it this lesson. Somehow, I must have been late quite a few times, that he had the impression that there was once when I was late and the last to be in class (which I totally had no recollection of). So... I'll have to sing a song to the class... this coming Friday. There are supposedly two others and we're supposed to sing together, but... I actually prefer to sing alone :P "断点" will be a nice song. Ha. Tsk... must be in time for the rest of the lessons... I don't want to be accused of being last. This time, I'll take it as it is, since I really don't remember... but I'm quite sure I've never been last before.
Lunch at NTU Canteen A I think, followed by my Educational Psychology I module. It's more of an interactive session with the tutor. Part lecture, part discussions and sharing. I went over to the library to get some work done after my Ed Psych module, before heading down to Jurong Point Fish & Co for the GESL dinner. My first time using the computer cluster as well. It's quite convenient... if there are any available workstations that is. I went over the other day and all the stations were occupied.
So... what's GESL? GESL is short for Group Endeavours in Service Learning. It's basically a non-graded module which all student teachers have to go through... coming up with a community service project and learning from the experience. Today's gathering was a get-to-know-one-another-better session. There are 24 of us in the group. We brainstormed on the possible things that we could do and chatted about general get-to-know-one-another-better stuff, but just with the few people whom we were sitting near. There's no table big enough for 24 people and even if there is, it will be impossible to communicate with people at the far ends.
Tomorrow... just one lesson in the evening, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm, followed by tuition at my cousins' place. Busy evening and night lo.
Blog-hopping
I've got a 30-minute test later in the day and I've not started studying for it :/
I think my memory is really failing me at times... for the second time in a few weeks, I've forgotten about my waterbottle (a mineral water bottle). The first was when I forgot to bring my bottle to school, resulting in me spending money to buy another one (all humans need to drink water). The second was today, when I forgot to bring my bottle home from my cousins' place after tuition. Fortunately, I have an additional H-TWO-O bottle at home.
Ok, now, to talk about today's entry. Blog-hopping. I realised that I'm now doing a lot of reading of blogs. Just random clicking of links in blogs which I read once in a while. I spend more time reading blogs than my textbooks. Not a good sign. I wonder what this would imply, psychologically. Or maybe it's just that I'm bored and other people's lives seem more interesting than mine.
Of the blogs that I've hopped into, there are some which have amazed me... there are people who can really write out there. Ha. It's nice to read blogs with mundane content, yet remarkably expressed in words. I can't write... well, I can write. It's just that, it's either that I'm never at that kind of standard, or I have already lost the ability to write expressively.
Words can transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
The past week
Wrote a backdated entry for my final week of ESE...
This week... well, nothing exciting actually, since it's just lessons and tuition, lessons and tuition. Good thing that I'll have one more week of slack time-table... before lessons start for good.
Quite enjoyed life this week... lunch at Jack's Place, dinner at Swensen's. Will need to be frugal next week :P The church's youth website is finally launched, after months of dragging and procrastination. Still lots more to be done, but at least it's been launch. I wasn't in church today for the launch... since I was at my friend's place and I spent the whole Saturday and night finishing up the main parts of the website. It was impossible to finish before the last bus. I think I worked on it till about 4am before I went to bed. Tired...
Met friends and saw a teacher from my ESE school while I was having lunch at BPP this afternoon. Speaking about coincidences.
A new week ahead. 加油 everyone~ Heh
Of NIE and life
Well, it's now my third week into school.
Firstly, food in NIE and NTU can't be compared to that of NUS. NUS canteen food is much much better than NIE and NTU food. But... still better than my school experience school's canteen food. Ha. I do hope that my permanent posting in the future has good canteen food :P
Secondly, about lessons. So far, I've only encountered Educational Psychology, ICT in Classrooms, Teaching of Mathematics as well as my Physics upgrading modules. Lessons are generally dry, but can be fun sometimes. Physics upgrading modules are generally more interesting, since there are demonstrations and hands-on activities which I never got to do during my Secondary School days. Lots of simple yet interesting ideas for classroom teaching. And of course... correction of warped Physics concepts :P
Thirdly, about Maple Story. I haven't been playing much these days. Partially because I have been sick... but I'm more or less well now. I realise that I cannot stare into the computer screen for long hours anymore... will feel nauseous after that :/ Currently Level 82... think it'll take me another one or two weeks to level to 83.
Fourthly, about life in general. I'm quite happy with life for now... not too stressed by school and I still have the time to do things that I want to do. I went down to the Esplanade bridge last Friday and Saturday for the Fireworks Festival. New Caledonia on Friday with her "Nature and Mystique" display and France on Saturday with her "Celebration of Life" display. I took mini videos with my handphone... Heh. The quality was not bad. Might consider putting them up if I have the time. Same goes with all my other photos. Ah... procrastination.
It's good to be earning a salary... at least I can choose to spend money in my own ways. Well, there's a need to save up as well. Till the next update, do take care all =]
