The first is that one of my harddisks died... So I'm now left with only one harddisk. Good thing is that it's the old harddisk that died. Well, it is inevitable that the unexpected death of a harddisk will result in loss of data. The thing is, I don't really know what data I have lost. Hmmm, probably not so vital data, but still data that I would have wanted to keep ba :/ Haiz, I should have backed up the data last night before I slept... had a premonition that this was going to happen. There were some warning signs (ie. bad sectors) that the harddisk was dying, but I didn't expect it to be so fast. It's only about three days since the first bad sector appeared.
The second is that I got a lousy grade for one of my modules' assignment. A "C" grade... 30% of CA. Die le... this semester dead liao. I think a "C" is almost guaranteed. I just hope that it won't go lower than that. I'm not very hopeful about getting an honours. Haiz. Oh well, nothing I can do now anyway.
I went out in the late afternoon today, to meet two friends at Suntec. Had dinner at Carl's Junior. First time trying it. Hmmm, I ate the BBQ Chicken Burger. Not very nice... and it's quite expensive lo, for a fast food joint. I only had one cup of iced lemon tea although drinks was free flow.
Watched "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". Hmmm, not bad ba, but some scenes were a little short though. The special effects were good. Quite enjoyable =) Didn't like the new Dumbledore... too fierce and active. I think the actor who acted as Professor Snape brings out the character well. So does Professor McGonagall. Hermione is pretty~ but ah, got a few scenes she looked a bit old. Cho Chang is very sweet looking :P That Beauxbaton head mistress is ugly though :x
Just realised, at 1am on Wednesday, 30 November 2005, that I forgot to finish up this entry for Monday and post it up.
Hmmm, so what did I do on Monday? Well, nothing constructive really, but I spent a big part of my afternoon packing my room. Ah, should have taken a "before and after" picture. Hmmm, the room's still super messy though, with all the boxes still stacked (used to be messily) neatly against the wall. I threw away quite a few boxes. Will be throwing more when I pack the top of the cupboards.
Dinner out... ate an ice-cream after dinner. A new one I think, modified from the lime and vanilla flavoured popsicle. The lime part is now jelly-like... supposed to be konnyaku. A bit weird. I prefer the original version with the lime part surrounding the vanilla part within.
Ah, went for a swim/tan with two friends in the afternoon. It was drizzling when I left my place. Good thing it didn't rain. I swam a total of 20 laps... in a pool with rather cold water. It's been years since I last swam so much. Ha. Anyway, nice relaxing swim, followed by a short tan before lunch over at the hawker centre. Didn't expect there to be any sun, since the sky was rather cloudy and rain seem imminent.
Lunch was fried 锅贴, tom yam soup and fried noodles. Rather filling, but not for long. I was hungry soon after I reached home :P Hmmm, the rest of the day was spent mainly on sleeping I guess. I think I'm in a super lazy and "wanting to sleep" mode.
Sunday...
Skipped sermon and reached church at about 11.30am. Ehz, lesson at 2pm, so my friends and I went over to the nearby hawker centre for lunch. It's been quite some time since I last went over for lunch. I ate western today... fish and chips. Not that nice though... the batter on the fish was a little too thick.
Well, I'm the assistant booklet maker for the church's December camp, so my friend and I spent some time looking at past year camp booklets to get an idea of how we would want to do it this year. I hope it will not take up too much time. I won't be attending the camp though. I'll be having reservist during that period. Hopefully it will be a relaxing time.
Lesson ended at 5pm and I took a cab back home to finish up something. Dropped a friend off at Chinatown since it was on the way. I helped a friend record the repeat telecast of "皆大欢喜" on Channel 8 while waiting for my aunt to come and fetch me for dinner. Ah, lend my whole set of 6 Harry Potter books to my cousin le... heavy.
Anyway, dinner was at Great World City's Jack's Place. We decided to go there to "support" my cousin who was working part-time there. I had a Tenderloin Fillet Mignon. It's basically tenderloin steak with bacon wrapped around it. Hmmm, the beef was good... the baked potato was a little too dry though. The celery and corn that came with the meal was good. I quite like the celery... sweet.
We walked around the place before heading home at about 9.15pm. My aunt came up to borrow my digital camera from me and ended up chatting till quite late before heading home.
It's a disaster week in terms of the number of virus email I received. Zzz
Rubbish mail count, 21 - 27 November 2005: Spam mail: 81 Virus mail: 283 (2 x Bagle.DR worm, 2 x Netsky.Q worm, 279 x Sober.Y worm) Total: 364
Hmmm, what did I do? Oh yar. Friend came over to get some help for his project which will be due this coming Sunday. I slept quite a lot I think... Slept till late morning, then napped in the afternoon. The night was spent watching TV and playing a little Gunbound. Yea, long time since I last played it le... not that fun also lah, but well, it's a form or relaxation.
Haven't been doing anything to the FLASHbox website because most of the things are up and the site is rather automated. Nothing much for me to do, unless something goes very wrong somewhere.
Final paper this morning... Genes and Society. 100 MCQs in two hours. I was quite sian after about 60 to 70 questions and there was not much time left, so I think I finished up the last 30 or so questions at quite a fast rate. Hmmm, I know there are a few questions which I couldn't do... and I realised I read a question wrongly and of course chose the wrong answer after time was up. Ah, because I looked at someone else's answer sheet and that person had a different shaded oval as mine, so I re-read the question. Sianz... one question confirm wrong le :/
Met up with the rest of my friends who had another paper which ended at the same time. Last day for them too. We took Bus A over to business faculty, but it was rather crowded and the queue for the western stall was very long. So we went to Harbourfront instead. Ate at the food court. I had a set lunch from Hans, Roast Chicken and Ham. Nice :P Long time since I last ate it le. The dessert was a slice of yam cake. Nice.
Next, I went down to Sim Lim Square to get a TV card. Went with a friend who wanted to get a new harddisk because his old one has a lot of bad sectors. Anyway, got a Hauppauge brand one as recommended by the salesperson. Ehz, bought a 20-metre TV cable as well. Came home and set everything up. Everything worked well, except for the fact that the program that is runned when I use my computer to watch TV has some incompatibilities with my graphics card and will crash the system sometimes. So for now, I cannot anyhow switch channels :P Might want to get a better graphics card ba... one that will not be so troublesome. Previously, I had problems trying out MAYA because it's not compatible with my graphics card. See how. No budget for this month le. Ha. When I get super irritated by the crashing then maybe I'll get a new graphics card ba :P
Ah, my old harddisk is starting to get bad sectors too... sianz. Will have to backup the data in that harddisk and try not to utilise it le. I don't really plan to get another new harddisk this soon. Computer stuff ah... make me spend money only... and it's not a small sum each time. Zzz
Quite nice to be able to watch TV while using the computer. Heh. Will post up some screen captures or something tomorrow ba. A bit lazy now. Need to start doing HYP again le :/
Hmmm, well, the Sober.Y.Worm is not a new virus thingy, so I have no idea why Singnet allowed it to get into my inbox. Received more emails with the worm today. Sianz. Anyway, I disabled the antivirus notification and asked it to work silently. Can't stand all the pop-ups... I have to manually click each one loh.
I slept late last night and woke up at about hmmm... 10.30am this morning. Was out studying for the whole day. I bumped into a secondary school friend. It's been quite some time since I last saw her. Glad to see that she is happy and well =)
Ehz, had a slight headache in the evening, so I took a 1-hour nap. Felt much better after napping :P Last paper tomorrow... then go Sim Lim Square get TV card and most probably Sim Lim Tower to get a 20-metre TV cable. 10 metres is not enough... my dad measure de.
Saw the following thing in someone else's blog. So cute~~~ :P
Turtle Dance Inventor: Takara Availability: Now, only in Japan; about $12 each To Learn More: takaratoys.co.jp (Japanese only)
It's small, it's cute and it sashays across your desk, tail wriggling. To program Walkie Bits, simply tap its shell with your finger. It can remember and mimic a rhythmic pattern of up to 15 clicks. In song mode, it bleep-bleeps Leopold Mozart's Toy Symphony. But the most fun you can have with these tiny turtle robots is to race them against each other. In basic walk mode, the Walkie Bits' pace is unpredictable, so you never know which one—peach? melon? pineapple? mint?—will win. Each one runs on a watch battery and comes in a canister. Three can fit in the palm of your hand.
Hee, really very cute right? :P Dunno if Christmas time reach Singapore liao or not. Heh
3 papers... 2 down... 1 to go. I'll be lucky if I ever get anything more than Cs for the first two.
Yep, I have a livejournal blog. But it doesn't really matter. I seldom use it.
What's Sober.Y? Hmmm, it's the name of a worm... had loads (about 50) of emails with this worm just today alone. Should be a recent virus thingy I guess... maybe it only came out today. Hopefully Singnet will do something about it soon. It's quite irritating to have the antivirus warning pop up everytime I check my emails.
The FLASHbox webbie was down for about two hours today, so was notsniw.net... because the server that houses these sites was down. Hardware failure... that's what my webhost said. Problem was rectified though. Quite fast I guess, considering that it was a hardware failure and needed replacement or something.
I went to school for my second paper today. A do-able paper I guess, with a few past year questions. Bad news is that I didn't really attempt the past year questions even though I did give them some thought when I last looked at the them. Ah well. Over le. No point thinking about what kind of grades I will get. This is perhaps my worst module for this semester.
Went over to Funan Centre after the paper. I reached at about 8pm and most of the shops were already closing. I intended to get a TV tuner card for my desktop, so that I'll be able to watch and record tv shows... and perhaps then not use the Internet so much and revert back to my "TV-watching lifestyle" of the past. Anyway, didn't buy anything because the shop that I went to didn't have that particular brand that I was interested in. Managed to clarify my doubts reading the use of a TV tuner card though. Well, nothing much actually. I just wanted to know if I could use the card without the TV cable and get decent quality images. My guess is I will not and the salesperson confirmed it.
Came home and checked to see if there were any additional TV sockets. Well, there's one in my parent's room, so I guess I will be using that. The only troublesome thing that I'll have to do is to get a 10-metre long TV cable. I'll probably consult my dad with regards to how it can be done. It would be good if I can actually drill a hole through the wall in between the two rooms :P Ha. Impossible de I think... the wall is so thick. Can't use the aircon duct also.
Last paper this coming Thursday. Dunno if can finish reading the textbook :/ After that is holidays le... have to face my nightmare HYP project. I admit that I haven't been doing anything to it. Haiz... will my CAP score drop further this semester? Very likely.
I woke up at about 10am on Sunday I think... Did some reading of notes and fiddled with a bit of webbie stuff as usual. Yeah, I know... exam time... but fiddling with webbie stuff is my form of relaxation and maybe erm, escapism ba.
I fiddled with two new things this time. The first being a free PHP counter system from ekstreme.com. I took some time to figure out how to display the statistics the way I wanted although it seemed like a simple system :P Well, it's simple to use ba. The second is a content management system known as CuteNews. I think it's a very good system. It's very easy to customise once one gets the hang of it. I incorporated it into the myFLASHbox.sg website to handle the announcements. The main merit of both systems is that they make use of flat files (ie. text files) to store data instead of mySQL database.
Anyway, met a friend at King Albert Park McDonald's to study at night. At about 11.45pm, the manager (I think) came to inform us that they will be closing at 12 midnight because they had to do some maintenance thingy. It's supposed to be a 24-hour outlet. Hmmm, he informed us a little late I guess. Fortunately, managed to hop on to bus number 174 even though I didn't know where it was heading to (well, it will definitely bring me closer to home). Took one of the information slips they have on the bus and figured out where to alight.
We alighted off the junction of Farrer Road and Queensway and walked over to Ridout McDonald's with a big cup of ice lemon tea from the King Albert Park outlet. Rather fortunate I guess... to be able to make it without taking a cab. I think my navigation skills are not bad ba. Ha :P It was already 12.25am by the time we reached the Ridout outlet. Settled down and continued mugging till about 7.45am in the morning.
Well, came home and slept till 4pm. I've got one paper at 5pm tomorrow. Worried about this one... because it's closed book and there are a lot of facts to remember :/
Sleepy day. Hmmm, a bit sian. Anyway, here's a funny short clip that Elaine sent to me via MSN yesterday. It's in Mandarin. Quite funny... about fishball noodles :P
Click on "Show Clip" to display the player and start loading the clip. Then the "Play" button to play the clip. Enjoy... =)
Okie, time to bathe, then study. I won't be going to Church tomorrow, since there's no lesson and I need to study for my exams. Will be able to study till later hours today. Lots to read and memorise.
I've automated the password request process at the myFLASHbox website. Just uploaded the new password request page which verifies the user's input data with the database, generates a random password, emails the new password to the user, notifies me when all the above is done and finally updates my request system.
All the trouble over just one page... in anticipation of my reservist in December. Well, about an hour of fiddling compared to having to manually process those requests everyday is nothing I guess. I just hope that there are no major bugs with the code.
My first exam paper this semester. Totally unexpected. For the past 3 years, the questions have been almost the same or exactly the same. This year, everything changed... not one single question was the same as any of the past year ones. Shocking. So much so that a few of my friends were erm, talking about it rather vehemently.
Anyway, was in school a few hours before the exam... to check answers with my friends. Eh, that's not the important point though. Anyway, a friend of mine brought a jokebook he bought for dunno one or two dollars. He read out some of the jokes and I found one really funny. Ahem, must first clarify that it's an adult jokebook...
There was this flasher who flashed at two old women. One of them had a stroke. The other was too slow.
That's all to it :x If don't get it, then nevermind loh :P
There's another one which I thought was rather witty.
There was this guy who went to a bar with his dog.
Bartender: Sorry, this bar does not allow dogs. Man: Oh, but it's a seeing dog. I'm blind you see. Bartender: Oh, I'm so sorry, here's a drink on the house.
When this man was leaving the bar, he saw a guy with a Chihuahua and he told him that the bar didn't allow dogs, but if he told the bartender that the dog is a seeing dog and that he is blind, he will get a free drink.
Bartender: Sorry, this bar does not allow dogs. Guy: Ah, but I'm blind. This is my seeing dog. (Bartender looks over the counter) Bartender: I'm sorry, but that doesn't look like a seeing dog to me. It's a Chihuahua. (A moment of silence) Guy: What? They gave me a Chihuahua??!!
Nothing much for the day. Was raining very heavily when I came home after the paper. Next paper is on Tuesday. Closed book, memory intensive. No idea what the questions will be like, since the course syllabus was changed slightly compared to the previous years.
Shall do a quick entry on yesterday's and today's happenings...
Yesterday... Was at home, studying and playing a little, just a little. I think I skipped lunch. Dinner was at Ikea though... ate the Curry Rice. Nice... affordable and very filling. The night was spent trying to do some past year papers. Many of the questions were repeated over the years. I think my paper will also have some of the questions ba...
Today... Erm, still studying at home. Checked some answers with a friend of mine. Clarified some doubts as well. Dinner was Zi Char... had rice with cereal prawns, prawn paste chicken and stir-fried kailan. Hmmm, still not very prepared for tomorrow's paper though :/ Open book exam... I'll still need to annotate the pages of the notes.
Was contemplating if I should use caps locks on the "n" of "notsniw", but decided otherwise. "notsniw" should not be spelt with an "N".
Anyway, woke up in the late morning and went to school. Primarily to study. A friend needed to make use of the scanner at SoC level 8, so I went over to help him get into the lab since he is not an SoC student. He did comment that SoC is the only place in NUS with scanner. Hmmm, I'm not too sure about that, but there's only one scanner left in the level 8 computer lab I think, since I only saw one today.
Submitted my TA module claim form and went over to the Co-op to bind my notes for this coming Friday's open book exam. Hmmm, spent the rest of the afternoon at the level 8 computer lab reading my notes. Sleepy though... maybe a little not used to wearing the black-rimmed pair of spectacles.
I had a dream this morning though... dreamt that I did badly for my secondary school exam and I was a little nonchalant about it. I can't remember the details of the dream liao, but it's not really how I would react at that time. Well, this attitude is rather applicable now though.
Anyway, left the lab for home at 7.30pm. Met a few coursemates who were going for dinner in the lift. I went home for dinner... Char Siew Rice. Heh. The one from the coffeeshop near the MRT Station is nice :P
Saturday, 12 November 2005 Woke up rather late today. Kept putting my handphone alarm to snooze mode and irritating myself with the "chocobo" rintone. It's almost guaranteed that I'll be able to hear this particular alarm. Traditional alarm clock tones are useless. I'm desensitised to those... perhaps no longer within my hearing frequency range when I am asleep.
I went for a short swimming/tanning session in the afternoon. Alone. There were quite a lot of people at the pool when I reached. No more tanning chairs in the sun, so I placed my belongings onto one that was in the shade and went for a swim instead.
Noticed three bikini babes. Well, "noticed" because I didn't really "see" them since I was wearing neither my spectacles nor contact lenses. Dunno chio or not, but one of them should be rather meaty, since she was swimming when I was swimming and I think I noticed that when she swam past me. Not sure also. Ha... can't see anything without my spectacles.
Had a missed call. Was my aunt. She wanted to organise a "cousins-only" outing, so me being the eldest in my generation was presented with the task. Well, she wanted me to bring my cousins to watch "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", but I think I should be watching it with my friends, so I couldn't agree to it. Anyway, I might organise another one some other time ba. Ice-skating would be too dangerous... think watching movies is still the safest option. Maybe going Haw Par Villa is good also :P
This particular entry for Saturday was written in my notebook. I tend to write more when it's on paper compared to in the computer. I might type fast, but I don't think as deeply and as much when I'm in front of the computer.
Monday, 14 November 2005 Spent the day studying and playing a little Neopets. I took a few short naps though... that's how it is when I'm studying at home. The bed is always a distraction. The computer is one as well, but it's not that bad, since I don't have much to do using the computer. I'm taking a break from all the webbie stuff (specifically the FLASHbox website, since it takes up most of my "fiddling with webbie" time). I've introduced enough updates for the time being.
Lunch was spaghetti again, since I had to finish up that bottle of cabonara sauce which would otherwise turn bad. Oh yar, my rimless spectacles died le... the nose bridge broke because the spectacles were accidentally stepped upon and I broke the nose bridge while attempting to bend it back to shape. Oh well, now wearing my black-rimmed spectacles... makes me look nerdy. Thankfully I have this backup pair of spectacles. If not I'll have to go around wearing my contact lenses for the next two weeks. I think I'll go search for a new frame only after the exams. Hopefully the lenses can be reused... quite expensive lo, the lenses.
Blogger seems to be a little weird... it's not sending me notification emails for comments anymore. Not sure if it's my email account's problem or not. Ah well, not really bothered by this fact though. There are more important things to bother about.
Nothing else exciting happened... though I won't really term me breaking my spectacles as exciting.
The entry for Saturday is on paper... will type it out tomorrow...
Sunday, 13 November 2005 Well, skipped sermon and went to church just for my lesson. Reached at about 11am... lesson was supposed to be at 12pm but was postponed to 2pm. I spent the time trying to study a little. Lesson was till slightly after 5pm. I had a slice of a nice chocolate cake during tea-break... Tea was nice too... 人参乌龙茶. Had cleaning duty after that. The church hired a new cleaner guy, so we basically had nothing much to do. We were supposed to just clean the first level, but I vacuumed the office anyway, since there was nothing else for me to do.
Made some changes to the page that adds Shouts to the FLASHbox database yesterday and was a little too confident of my own code, so I did not debug it after I made one last change to it. Ha, erm... it was a bit of a disaster. Ended up with a few emails highlighting the fact that Shouts added did not appear... and the fact that I was out the whole day didn't help.
Anyway, guess what? The FLASHbox was rendered useless just because I left out a full-stop [.] somewhere in the code. That full-stop was supposed to join two sentences in the code together, so leaving it out created code that had an error. Anyway, debugged, added that full-stop and everything worked well again. Most of the time was spent doing damage control...

Monday's entry will also be written tomorrow I guess... I wanna catch some sleep le :/
Only about 5 days before my first paper. *ponders*
I woke up early this morning, but didn't manage to do much studying. Fiddle quite a bit with webbie stuff though :/ Managed to upgrade the "edit shout" and "delete shout" pages of the public Admin Panel of the myFLASHbox website. Had some problems with coding just one or two lines of javascript since I am not familiar with the language. Googled quite a bit. The PHP part is just a little messy, but not much of a problem since I've been fiddling mainly with PHP these days.
Hmmm, managed to get a good score for one of the games in Neopets. Was rather overwhelmed when I first got the score. I had to walk around a little to calm myself down. Ha, too excited. Ah well... *shrugz*
I bought beehoon from the coffee shop near the MRT Station for breakfast. Found a SGD2 note on the steps of the staircase while walking home. I cooked lunch... spaghetti with cabonara sauce, hotdog and crab sticks. Something simple ba. I'm quite skilled at boiling noodles liao I think. I've been cooking quite a few different kinds of instant noodles :P
Last burst of fire for this semester. Hmmm, dunno HYP how :/
Hmmm... as always, I'm procrastinating. During such times, it's my webbie developments that benefit, since I will fiddle with webbie stuff instead of studying.
Well, I've figured out how to use radio buttons to delete multiple support tickets for the Support Ticket System of my myFLASHbox website. Not that difficult... will try to implement it for the main site during the holidays ba... that's when I will do a slight revamp of the user Admin Panel. Did a re-coding of the myFLASHbox sign-up page to take away the javascript validation. It now uses php validation. Easier to make changes to it also... Yar... boring stuff. But it's my hobby lah. Nice to be able to make things that really work.
Sorted out my notes so that I can study in a more systematic way... about 7 days left only. Not really looking forward to the end of the exams also. Oh, one good news today... received an email from the CS1101C lecturer. He changed the hours allocated to marking of lab scripts... which means that I now earn more from doing the TA duty :P
Forgot to mention that I watched "Tiramisu" on Channel 5 last evening. It's a nice drama. Not sure if it's a comedy though. Got a few giggle-worth scenes. Of course... got serious scenes also.
Slept rather early last night... didn't plan to sleep that early. My brother was using my computer and I went to lie down. Wanted to do something at the computer de... but fell asleep :/ Been sleeping early these days. Waking up rather early as well.
Anyway, implemented a "Support Ticket System" on the myFLASHbox website. It's a small thingy now... but I should be able to build upon it if needed. It'll be a good starting point for me to learn how to make use of auto-generated checkboxes for deletion/updating etc. Since it being a private system (I'm the one using it) is much smaller than the FLASHbox Shout system used by the general public.
Went to school for the Practical Exam TA duty today... 12-2pm (session 3) and 4-6pm (session 4). I managed to find out what kind of questions the other sessions had though. Session 1 was about polynomials, session 2 was about building walls around forests that "The Lord of the Rings" characters are in, session 3 was a variation of the Pascal numbers and session 4 was about this game called "Connect4". From the very shallow knowledge I have of session 1 and 3 questions, I would say that sessions 2 and 3 had rather difficult questions compared to the rest.
Dropped by NTUC FairPrice again... happens whenever I take bus number 33 home. Ran out of hotdogs... and had to get a new packet lozenges. Fisherman's Friend... apple and cinnamon. I cannot stand the other flavours.
A bit bloated now. Dinner was a packet of Fried Kway Teow, more than 10 sticks of satay and one ketupat rice thingy. Well, that's all for today I guess. Later will take a shower, then decide if I want to sleep or to mug.
Anyway, stayed home the whole day today. I woke up rather early though, since I slept late last night. Managed to settle down to do the marking of last week's lab scripts and submit the scores. That took a little longer than planned.
Hmmm, took a nap in the afternoon... had a short dream. Was awakened by someone knocking at the door. It was a guy from Singapore Power. He came to change the power meter outside my house, so he knocked on the door to inform me that he was going to change the meter liao. Disturb my nap :P
Practical exam TA duty tomorrow... it's a time to earn money. Ha. I took up an extra slot of duty. I'll try to sleep early tonight. If not tomorrow cannot wake up in time then die le.
A photo from last Thursday's lunch gathering at Centrepoint's Fish & Co.
Ok, yesterday... I was in school. Managed to finish up my assignment and went to school to attend my last CS4274 lecture as well as to hand in that assignment.
Had lunch, then went to PL1 to do try to study. Hmmm, went to collect the password slips for Wednesday's CS1101C PE TA duty. Attended my last Genes and Society lecture as well. Ah, dunno if I'm going for the Thursday one. The lecturer will be going through the midterm MCQ paper. Go all the way to school just for a 1-hour thingy. See how ba...
I stopped by at NTUC FairPrice to buy some food before heading home. Not much snacks left at home liao. Seems that I'm going to NTUC FairPrice quite a lot of times. Ha. My expenditure record shows that I'm spending quite a sum there :P
Yep, it was raining when I left my house this morning. Fine weather for sleeping...
Well, had to go church early because I had sound duty. There were no audio tapes left for recording the sermon, so I had to go hunt for tapes at 8am in the morning. Managed to buy some from a store just across the street. I tried a few stores before I found one that sold them. Tiring. Ha
Hmmm, reached home at about 12pm. Early today since there was no lesson in the afternoon. Felt sleepy, so I took a nap till late afternoon. Woke up, used the computer for a while before taking another nap till evening. Woke up and had dinner while watching tv. Had many dreams while napping today... not nightmares, but not sweet dreams either :/
Settled down to get some work done after I showered. I think I shall go to bed soon. I've got two lectures tomorrow.
Rubbish mail count, 31 October - 6 November 2005: Spam mail: 83 Virus mail: 1 Total: 84
Feeling tired all the time :P Ah, Exams soon... in less than two weeks.
Anyway, if anyone remembers who/what Warty Wart was, well, I'm glad to say that he/it should be dead. Having spent about SGD70 on three trips to the doctor's... If still cannot get rid of him/it, then I have got nothing else to say le. Anyway, supposed to visit the doctor one more time about two or three weeks ago... but since I think it has recovered liao... I didn't go.
Friday, 4 November 2005
Didn't attend the morning lecture, but I went to school in the afternoon, to do my schoolwork, since I would probably have done much less if I were at home.
Hmmm, was watching an advertisement on television when I suddenly remembered something from my childhood days. Ehz, particularly this experiment which you can do with ice, salt and a thread. Couldn't really remember the principle behind it, so I googled... and got this: "Since the melting point of salt water is lower than the melting point of pure water, the salt will help the ice to freeze with the thread attached."
It was quite an intriguing experiment at that time... and the best thing was that it could be done at home =)
Saturday, 5 November 2005
Slept early the night before... but woke up only in the late morning. Didn't do much, then left my place to go down to church... sound duty. My aunt came to fetch me at about 6pm and we headed over to Suntec. Dinner at Marché :P I had Rosti with Cheese Sausage as well as Waffle with a scoop of Pistachio ice-cream. Hmmm, the cheese sausage tastes better than the one the western stall at NUS Biz Fac sells. Well, it's more expensive mah, of course it's supposed to taste better.
Went shopping at Carrefour after that. I didn't buy anything though.
Lunch was at Fish & Co today... a mini class gather... had Seafood Platter for Two. A bit too much today :P and I forgot to change the grilled calamari to fried ones :/ A short walk over to Nokia Care Centre at Wheelock Place because a friend of mine had to get her handphone fixed. They went over to the Borders Cafe to "lim kopi" after that... but I had to leave early because I had to meet another friend at Chinatown at 4pm.
Next stop was Pearl Centre's Burger King, where I spent 2.5 hours answering Physics and Chemistry MCQ questions for a church friend who will be taking her 'O' levels starting from next week. Good thing that fastfood outlet is rather empty, even at dinner time.
Stopped over at NTUC FairPrice to grab some titbits before heading home. Hmmm, today feels like a Sunday. I wonder why. Perhaps it's because today's a holiday ba.
I'm using my laptop in bed... feeling tired. 正趴着用电脑 :P Three days of entries... Hopefully will be a quick one :/
Monday, 31 October 2005 Hmmm, Monday... Well, delibrately skipped my lecture because there were no notes. Ehz, no notes means no point going since I won't be paying much attention to the lecture :x Anyway, it happened that it was sort of a "guest" lecture. I don't think the contents of the lecture will be tested since no powerpoint slides were uploaded.
I think I spent the afternoon fiddling with my myFLASHbox website. Well, I basically coded a few pages for myself. It's basically the administrator admin panel. I've got five functions as of now... They include "inactive account notifier", "MD5 generator" and the most useful "user password reset form", to name a few. Hmmm, not sure if I'll need to code anymore admin functions for myself, but I guess these few will suffice. Am thinking of implementing my own support ticket system next semester, when I might have more time with just my HYP to contend with.
Tuesday, 1 November 2005 A new month... which meant that I spent my time doing what I've been doing on the first of the past few months. Dinner was char siew rice from the coffeeshop near Queenstown MRT Station. Hmmm, I think the char siew is very nice :P The chilli paste that comes with it is nice also.
Oh yar. There's this new Neopets game called "Whack-a-ghost". Quite cute ah :P I remember I used to play this "wacko" game in the amusement centres when I was young. It's fun to use the hammer to hit at those "botak" thingies that pop out of the holes. Ah... memories... It was a carefree life then... no need to worry about having to earn money.
Wednesday, 2 November 2005 Woke up in the late morning, had lunch at Dawson's Place, then headed to school. Was a little surprised that the overhead bridge disappeared. It wasn't that long since I last took a bus from there wad... hmmm. Anyway, that overhead bridge was taken down. The only means of crossing that stretch of road will be a traffic light further down the road.
Hmmm, went to the embedded system lab and waited for my friends to meet me after they had their lunch. We had a discussion on how to do the next assignment, then I headed over to PL1 to do my lab TA duty. Super busy today... even though it was just five students asking me questions. Brain a little drained after that :/
My friends had dinner at the canteen. I just ate a muffin since I was going home for dinner. Met this Dutch friend of one of my friends. The few of us had quite a funny chat. It was about 7.30pm by the time I left school I think. Walked over to the Dover bus stop with one friend and took bus number 33 home.
Feeling tired... but there's work to be done. Zzz Two weeks to the exams. Die le.
