3rd week of school
Eh, how time flies... it's now the 3rd week into school... but I feel as if I've been back in school for a few months. Although my timetable is rather relaxing, I can't say the same for the workload. Not to mention that I've been sick for almost one and a half weeks at the beginning of the school term.
So, what have I been doing? Nothing much actually... going to school, giving tuition and playing Maple Story. Will take a look at my expenditure records and churn out the previous weeks' entries later, after I finish an essay that will be due tomorrow.
In a nutshell, it's good to be back in school (minus the homework that is). Practicum impending... but I still do not know what school I'll be going to until next week I think. Bit worried about it.
1-day Trip to JB
Yepz, I was in JB today. For a "getaway" with three of my NIE schoolmates.
We met at 11am at Woodlands MRT Station and took a bus into JB. My first time using the electronic passport scanning machine. So funny. I think I looked so much like a small boy trying out the gantry... my friends said that I was smiling to myself after using it. Ha.
Anyway, the first stop was at City Square, where we had lunch at a Chinese cooked food "restaurant" sort of place. I tried the 生面, which didn't really resemble the Singapore version except for the sauce I think. The noodle wasn't the normal one whereby it's just left eh... I think... uncooked with the sauce poured over it. We walked around for a while after that, mainly shopping for shoes because one of the girls wanted to buy a pair or two. Well, the store didn't have the size for the shoe that she wanted. There was a branch at Holiday Plaza which had it though, but we didn't know where that place is. Ha.
It was then a short trip in a taxi to our next stop, Plaza Pelangi, or something to that effect, for our KTV session at Red Box Karaoke. Quite an enjoyable session with lots of laughter. Much cheaper than going to K-Box in Singapore as well. Even the free drinks are more exciting, creative and nice to drink. Ha. Six hours of singing, a mini buffet dinner (the food is not as good as K-Box Marina's K-Dinner) and tons of laughter.
Headed back to Singapore at around 9.15pm or so... and managed to reach home by 10.50pm, after taking the wrong train at Jurong East MRT Station. Woke from my short sleep on the train, exited from the correct door from the middle train, thought that I got off at the wrong side, so I went through the middle train over to the wrong side and boarded the train. Blur blur me... Ha. Only realised that it was wrong after two stops :P
IT stuff update
I got new IT target for 2007 le :P
The Samsung CLP-300 Compact Colour Laser Printer :P I want I want :P So small and so nice lo... but I think it's retailing at about SGD500 now. A bit expensive for a home printer ah... but considering that it's a colour laser printer, it's quite cheap le. I think the toner will be expensive though... that's how it is with all printers. Must find out how much the toner costs... then can see if it'll make a worthy investment... something to accompany my B/W Laserjet. Heh
Oh, realised that my 2-year-old CPU has USB 2.0 ports instead of its slower USB 1.1. I've always thought it was USB 1.1. Why? Because my USB hub is actually USB1.1... So everytime I plug my thumbdrive into the hub, it tells me to plug it into a faster USB port in my computer. I have always wondered where the ports are, until I discovered recently that all my USB ports are USB 2.0 >.<". It's the USB hub that is USB 1.1. So so stupid. I think I'll get a USB 2.0 hub soon... Been wasting so much time and effort trying to find out something that's so straightforward. Stupid Stupid.
First post for 2007
Goodbye 2006. Hello 2007 =]
Well, hopefully, it will be a good year for everyone.
Anyway, some updates for the past few days. Hmmm, still haven't recovered from my sorethroat... probably due to the late nights. Going to JB on Thursday with a few of my NIE friends though... a KTV with buffet session. Not sure how I'm going to sing... but I'm sure interested in the food :P
Ok, shall start updating from last Friday then. Met up with two friends for dinner at Ang Mo Kio... at Mellben restaurant or something. It's a coffeeshop stall famous for its crab bee hoon I think. I'm not really a fan of the crab, but well, the bee hoon was nice and the crab was fresh I suppose. It was a really filling dinner. Was glad that we reached early because the queue after we managed to get our seat was surprisingly long. The extent that Singaporeans will go for food. Ha
Am level 104 in Maple Story lo... Quite slow actually, considering that I was on 24hr 2x experience over the weekend. Once I level to 120 (which would most probably take quite some time), I'll take a break from the game until the fourth job is out. I don't think I'll want to level beyond the fourth job level before it's out.
Sunday morning was spent in church. Headed down to City Hall's Breadtalk to get a birthday cake for my dad. Went home to keep the cake before heading over to my aunt's place to help her with her home painting. A lot of my relatives were there to help out. I was tasked with designing how to paint the arch joining two walls of different colours. Well, I miscalculated the first time round, but I eventually managed to get it done, by using the merging of stripes of varying widths. Looks out to me ba. Ha. Dinner was at the cooked food stall near my place. My aunt's treat, since all of us went over to help her with the painting. Heh.
The first few hours of 2007 was spent playing Audition Dance Battle... we played the NPC battle and won every round that we played, since my pro friends were online. Not a bad way to start the new year. Ha. Had quite a bit of a headache after that though... 2.5hrs of staring at the screen. Tsk.
