Mini hiatus?

Hmm, will try to provide an update on the past week if I'm in the mood tomorrow...

Then I'll be hibernating for about two weeks =]

Might have random entries once in a while, but that will be rare though.

Funfair and 清明

Saturday, 18 March 2006 was spent with half of the day out at Bishan, at Kuo Chuan Presby Sec.

There was a funfair going on which involved all the Presbyterian churches in Singapore and I was there with my friends to help out in manning our church's game stalls. Hmmm, quite fun I would say. It was mostly young children playing at the game stall that I was manning and it was fun watching them play the games. Very tiring though... and the scorching weather didn't help in making me feel better.

It was hmm... maybe 4pm by the time I got home. Took a nap I guess.

Sunday morning was spent at a columbarium... dunno exactly which one. Only know that it's further up Holland Village. It was quite a fast affair though, except for the fact that the bus company sent the wrong bus in the morning. They gave us a small bus when we wanted a big one. My uncles had to drive some of my relatives there in the end due to lack of seats no the bus.

My cousins then came over in the afternoon to play Maple Story. Not very pleasant watchting the three young ones playing. They took a long time to make small decisions. I guess it's easier to play such games alone, with friends inside the game, rather than having people around helping with the decisions that you make.

The evening was spent watching the last episode of Star Idol 2006. Hmm, rather ok I guess.

Saturday 11th - Friday 17th

Well, I should at least try to finish last week's entry :P
Yea... I know my updates have been slow. Daily entries will resume after 20th April I hope =]

Okie, first of all, to continue from the previous entry about my food poisoning incident. Well, I went to have BBQ Steamboat at Marina Bay on Friday night. Didn't feel unwell or anything the night itself. It was when morning came that I started to feel the need to go to the toilet... diarrhea, with a little stomachache.

It soon got worse... the pain became spasms... and after three times of diarrhea, it was three times of vomitting. It got so bad that I couldn't even sit up properly. Finally decided to go to the doctor's after I decided that I really couldn't take the pain le. Well, the doctor gave me an injection to help ease the pain and some medicine.

The whole of Saturday was spent sleeping... so was most of Sunday. Well, it was that bad. I've never encounter such severe food poisoning. Not fun at all :/

So that was the weekend. I recovered soon after and was feeling much better by Monday.

Tuesday and Wednesday evening was spent giving tuition... I think it's the March school holidays for my cousins, so the female one was not free on Thursday, which explained the two consecutive days of tuition.

Some of the time on Thursday and Friday was spent on the myFLASHbox.sg website. Added one function in my own Administrator Admin Panel to check for unused/inactive accounts so that I could remove them to make space for new users. Modified the FLASHboxes to work with secure HTTPS link as requested by my sponsor as he mentioned that sending data through SSL might help reduce costs. Hmmm, modified the internals of the FLASHboxes slightly as well, to display an error message when data retrieval of messages fail.

I think the newest version of the FLASHbox solved the auto-refreshing problem... but it introduced other problems I think, most probably due to the use of HTTPS. It's hard to find solutions to problems because I myself don't encounter them :/ Anyway, will work on that during the holidays when I have all the time in the world.

Saturday 4th - Friday 10th

I actually keep short notes everyday, since I haven't been writing but want to at least keep track of perhaps more significant happenings.

Shall now do a slight elaboration of the week from 4th till 10th, covering a span of about six to seven days. There was a bit of tension at home on Saturday night, due to my brother coming home late. He was out at some KTV with smoking, drinking frens I think... and they drove him home. My dad saw and wasn't really happy. Didn't dare to go out too early on Sunday, so I only went for lesson in church in the afternoon.

It was quite late by the time I got home... around 5pm I think, since I went over to NTUC to get the weekly snacks. Dinner was at Dawson's again. Had cooked food... eh, Beef Fried Rice. Quite nice I think... and more filling than the normal fried rice and erm, of course more expensive as well.

I think I fiddled with the FLASHbox website on Saturday night as well... added the email verification and activation. Only users with valid emails will be able to activate their accounts now =] It was supposed to be done only in May, but I decided to do it now... get it over and done with.

Nothing much for Monday... just lunch of Mee Rebus from Dawson's Place. Decided to buy equipment and clothing for my character in Maple Story in advance, so I spent some time scouting around for reasonably priced ones. Didn't have dinner I think... slept early.

Tuesday... accompanied a friend over to Tuas to count cars. It was an eye-opener for me I guess, since I've never been to that region of Singapore. It was really really really ulu lah. And ah, we didn't even manage to find the building we were looking for, since it was apparently being re-built or something :/ Saw this dog nearby though... I tried giving it water, but it walks away whenever I attempt to get near it. Too bus number 198 back to give tuition... a bus journey which took about an hour. I slept on the bus though.

Wednesday was a long day. Long because I woke up at about 7am in the morning and only managed to sleep rather late at night. TA in the morning... no students again. Spent the afternoon at home, then over to church in the evening for a "brought-forward" lesson. Dinner was 饺子... nice :P It was about 11pm by the time I got home though. Went for a short jog after that.

Lunch on Thursday was 饺子 again... this time at the Queenstown Hawker Centre. It was tuition as usual again in the evening. I went over to Holland Village Cold Storage to get some stuff before going over to my cousins' place.

Friday was the day which marks the beginning of my horrid weekend... and evening of BBQ Steamboat at Marina South which lead to severe food poisoning the next day -_-"

Hiatus?

Merriam-Webster Online's definition of the word "hiatus" states that hiatus is "an interruption in time or continuity". Well, perhaps this could be considered as a short (or maybe long) hiatus ba, so much so that people are talking in my FLASHbox without me really realising :P Anyway, nothing much has happened over the past two weeks or so, which explains why there hasn't been any updates. Perhaps just one thing ba... I was down with food poisoning last week. Will talk about it in one of two entries which will cover the past two weeks.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Really must write le, if not everything forget liao :P

Hmmm, tuition on Thursday as usual. Nothing much actually, just that my Sec 2 cousin wasn't that cooperative. Had to keep nagging at him to get his work done and we didn't do much. Thankfully, the March holidays will be here soon. It will be a good break for them... and hopefully they will be more cooperative after that =]

Friday... nothing much. Just stayed at home the whole day, only going out in the afternoon for lunch. Initially wanted to have the 锅贴 at the nearby food centre, but it wasn't open. A bit sian. Ended up having Popiah for lunch. Bought ice-cream from a mobile van on my way home :P

I went tanning today, since the sun was good for the past few days and I couldn't really find time or make the effort to go over to the pool. Hmmm, a lot of people were there. Fortunately, my friends were there first and there were tanning chairs available. Too many people in the pool to go for a swim anyway. I guess going to the pool on a weekday would be better. Actually go where also weekdays good ba.

Mid-week

I was going to write yesterday, but... Blogspot was down. Earlier entries will have to wait... a little lazy to type now.

Anyway, I was at Pasir Ris yesterday afternoon. Ate lunch at White Sand's Cavana with a friend. The funny thing was that we ordered two sets of rice, one Honey Chicken and one Sambal Chicken Wings. There was a plate of rice on the counter and my friend thought that it was mine, so he collected it and we went to take a seat. Well, happens that it was wrong... my friend took a Chicken Cutlet Rice instead. So when the person (lady boss I think) sent my rice over, she saw that my rice was wrong and thought it was their mistake. We ended up with extra Honey Chicken on the house :P

Dinner was at Ridout Mac... Had McSpicy again. Hmmm, the McSpicy is getting lousier I think. Perhaps I should just eat the Chicken Foldover next time even though it is more expensive. Saw this huge tortoise in the pond... It was really big lo... ehz, think it's at least half a metre in diameter. Saw quite a lot of students studying there as well. It's the Poly and JC exam period ba... 10.30pm still quite a lot of people there. It's quite a nice place to mug.

I've currently put a limit to the number of myFLASHbox account registrations at 19500. There are currently about 19300 registered users. Will be making some improvements to the website before re-opening registrations I guess. That will be in mid-May 2006 ba.
