4D3N Ipoh/Cameron Trip

Well, as much as I would like to continue procrastinating, I believe that I should quickly get this typed out. Yea, I know that the NCC Officer Cadet Course entry is still not up. That entry is a bigger challenge to type compared to this, so... I'll just leave it for now and maybe I would update on it after my ICT :P

Day 1:
Boarded the bus early in the morning at around 6.20am. Upon clearing immigration, it was straight to Yong Peng for a short break. The tour guide introduced us to the many natural resources that Malaysia has during the long trip to Ipoh. After numerous toilet breaks, we finally reached our destination for lunch. Visited the Perak Caves before checking into the hotel at night... stayed at Hotel Excelsior in Ipoh. Dinner was self-paid and my friend and I had Brean Sprout Chicken. It's basically a plate of bean sprouts with a plate of chicken. Nothing special I would say, except for the fact that the bean sprouts were fat and juicy. Went over to the mini pasar malam near the eatery and bought Trail slippers for RM6 and an RM10 Billabong wallet.

Day 2:
Day 2 was more eventful, considering that we had more time and went more places. After the hotel breakfast, it was a trip to a pomelo plantation before heading over to another cave... the Ji Le Cave (极乐洞). Had an interesting time at the pomelo plantation trying to lure flies onto the sticky paper which they used to trap the flies. Visiting caves is quite boring, except for the fact that I had the chance to see stalagmites and stalactites for the first time in my life (if my memory did not fail me). It was then to the Lost World of Tambun, a water theme park under Sunway Lagoon. Not fun at all... the facilities were quite horrid and there wasn't anything much to do there.

That was followed a short evening shopping spree at Ipoh Jasco and I managed to find Bubble Bath after visiting a few shops. I know it's a waste of water, but if the hotel room has a bathtub and I'm on holidays, a bit of nice soaking would be relaxing :P Anyway, got myself a Giordana shirt as well... not cheap though. After dinner, it was back to the hotel room. There wasn't much to do, but fortunately, the hotel television had the Star Movies channel and my friend and I ended up watching movies for the rest of the night. We watched two-and-a-half movies in total... Jurassic Park III, My Super Ex-Girlfriend and Big Momma's House 2, before adjourning for the night.

Day 3:
Hotel breakfast early in the morning and it was time to move on to Cameron Highlands. We visited a hydroponics farm which grew loads of strawberries (you can even buy a strawberry plant for RM7), a cactus and rose farm, the BOH tea factory and plantation (BOH stands for Best of Highlands) and an apiary. After a steamboat dinner, it was pasar malam time again. I finally managed to buy a few Secret Recipe cakes for supper after two days of passing by Secret Recipe shops. Nothing much for the night, since Star Movies wasn't showing interesting movies, except for Gladiators, which I only watched half-way before going for dinner.

Day 4:
An even earlier breakfast at 7am before moving out back to Singapore. We stopped by a small waterfall on the way back and did some last minute shopping as well. Didn't buy much this trip though... there's nothing much to be bought anyway. I'm not a souvenir person and photos of the trip would suffice as keepsake. No point buying local produce for my relatives as well. Lunch was at a Chinese restaurant, with a mini suckling pig, which I totally do not know how to appreciate, so generally, it was a bad lunch for me. It was then all the way back to Singapore, with Andy Lau's China concert being played on the coach. Finally reached Singapore at about 6.30pm ba.

And now, it's back to doing work (or erm, thinking about work) before my ICT next week.
